Licensing and source

laney
Hi,

This is a cool project, but I can find nothing about how to get the code or what license it's under. Am I just missing something? If not, what is the deal here? I'd imagine some of the stuff you build on top of is GPL so there must be at least something out there.

SUSE Studio a hosted service provided by Novell.  At this time we do not
offer it to be run on your own servers.  You are correct that it does
make use of software released under a variety of licenses.  Many of the
components we use are available in the openSUSE Build Service or
openSUSE 11.1.

Thanks,
Peter

Is this planned for the future? It would be really nice to have a local Studio
install to create appliances from a local OBS instance.

We have heard this request from several people and are looking at
possibly offering it in the future.

Thanks,
Peter

We currently use an AutoYaST custom ISO pointing a LAN installation
server for our templates of SLES10.  I would use SUSE Studio as a total
replacement for this setup if it were available for a LAN server
installation.  There have been and are similar applications out there
(we tried Revisor from Fedora before settling on SLES as our standard)
but I am a die-hard SUSE fan, so I am holding out for this one to be
LAN-ready for the masses.  Love the work you are all doing on SUSE
Studio.

Thanks!

Cheers.
