Hi,
I'm trying to build my Suse Studio Appliance, but it won't work. The thing is, it just hangs at about 40%. No error message or whatsoever.. Do more people have this problem? Or am I missing something here? Thanks! |

Sorry for the inconvenience, we're working on this issue. I have a similar problem, although my builds get around 75%.before going into an endless pause during the "Copying filesystem into appliance" stage. It takes many attempts to cancel and delete the builds, but eventually they delete.
Cheers, Rick

I'm curious to know if this is only for 11.1 images, or if 11.0 is effected as well. Does changing the type of image help?
Edit: After some trial and error, it seems that I can sometimes build using the live CD/DVD option, but not the disk image option. One attempt at a text-only disk produced a library error. Very strange, indeed...

No changing the image type didn't help for my image... it still stalls during installation of software even after a few attempts.
11.0 has it's own issues at present.... When I tried to create a few test images ( text only / minimal and gnome ) with no additional software, I got a "/studio/filestore/rmds/packages/e6ff568a683e69e36de4e52deddac346//i586/glibc-locale-2.8-14.2.i586.rpm: not an rpm package (or package manifest):" error. I tried a 11.1 gnome image with no additional software and it successfully built as both a disk image and live CD. Could there possible be a dodgy package that is stopping the software installing? Does not appear to be any way to see error or log files during the build to assist in troubleshooting....

I just tried a KDE4 default image for 11.1 and it built properly. I'll try adding packages and see what happens.

I'm still having problems building now and then. I've tried to narrow down what package(s) are causing the issue, but I haven't managed to isolate the cause. Does anyone have any ideas?

So far I have come across two packages causing my builds to fail: smbclient and gwenview. There are more yet to discover. I am taking a bare bones image and slowly adding packages to determine which ones cause it to fail. This is fairly time consuming so I am removing a few packages that are nice to have but that I don't really need. It would be good to know if anyone else is having issues with these two packages under 11.1. So far I have successfully added the following packages to the gnome 11.1 template: alpine, clamav, ddrescue, dos2unix, eog, f-spot, flash-player, gnome-terminal, gpart, MozillaFirefox, nano, netcat, nmap, ntfs-3g, ntfs-config, ntfsprogs, rdesktop, screen, tsclient, unix2dos, unrar, wine

I tried both Gnome and KDE4 and added only gwenview with a successful build. It's possible that the package has been fixed in the time between your post and mine, but somehow I doubt it. In my experience, there's no guarantee that an image will or won't build due to one specific package.

Today I can't even build the unchanged template...

Very strange. Last week all mine built fine including the broken ones.
I just thought it was fixed. Will check again as soon as I can. It seems to work fine again for the most part.
