I am so far out of my element here, it isn't even funny.
That being said, I am working on building a custom LAMP appliance on SLES 11 SP1, along with some additional packages. The additional package installs work just fine. I have successfully built a couple of other application specific appliance that are rock solid, and work phenomenally. That's not where my problem lies. As it pertains to the LAMP stack, I have added the LAMP pattern to my appliance config, along with the other bits and bobs that I want installed. If I just DL and launch my appliance in vmware workstation, I am at a total loss as to how to configure the AMP parts to all play nice and work together. Does anyone have some scripts that will automatically go through and configure the defaults for the LAMP components? Prompting for credentials is fine. Barring that, I have yet to find a clear, succinct tutorial how to achieve my desired end. If someone could point me to an easy to follow, succinct guide to achieve my goal I would be very grateful. Thanks ! |

As you noticed configuring a complete LAMP stack can be difficult. It's hard to help without knowing the details of what you are trying to do as these configurations are very scenario specific. Have you tried XAMMP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html) ? It provides a nice, simple to use web interface for configuring your LAMP stack. I've used it years ago and found it very convenient. There's even a XAMPP server appliance already in SUSE Gallery - http://susestudio.com/a/JQ4B43/xampp-server. Do check it out and let us know how it goes! -- James Tan Engineering Manager, SUSE Studio Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany SUSE |

Hello James,
Thank you for the nudge in the XAMPP direction. My preliminary research suggests that this is EXACTLY what I am looking for. I will experiment with this and see how it works out for my purpose. Thanks again ! Todd Hayward
