quiet First Boot

Hi all,
 After moving from openSuse 11 to 12.1; there is a LOT of console junk
on the first boot. I've solved this partially by overwriting grub.conf
to add "quiet" at the boot, but it doesn't apply to the first boot.

Is there an easy way to silence it or get it back to 11 style?
